RAPID + TCT kicked off with large crowd on April 13 at the Thomas M. Merino Convention & Exhibition Center in Boston, MA. Walking the show floor was an immersive experience, with hands-on, three-dimensional (3D) printing technology exhibits from over 400 vendors.
3D Systems introduced the new SLA 825 Dual to the U.S. market, which features a 22 percent larger build volume and delivers up to 25 percent faster build speeds than its predecessor. Also making its debut, AddiTrak, a factory‑floor software platform purpose-built for managing connected 3D Systems production environments.
AMT offers automated post-processing systems for 3D printing. Its vapor smoothing systems include several products in the lineup that smooth and seal both the surface and internal cavities of polymer parts. The company also provides depowdering and surface blasting solutions.
ATLIX promoted its recently acquired 3D printer lineup, the TruPrint models, from TRUMPF. With TRUMPF AM now ATLIX, the company is combining German precision, Italian flexibility, and global ambition.
BigRep showcased its industrial large format additive manufacturing (AM) systems like the BigRep ONE, with a one cubic meter build volume; the BigRep VIIO 250, an automated large format industrial system designed for demanding manufacturing workflows; and the BigRep DRYCON, a filament conditioning and annealing system, engineered to maintain material integrity and maximize material properties in parts.
Boston Micro Fabrication (BMF) played a video of its compact, benchtop microArch S150 printer and displayed parts printed using its new BMF Clear, an optically transparent photopolymer resin. Designed for seamless integration with BMF systems, BMF Clear prints at layer heights between ten and 50 microns.
EDM Network exhibited its newest Horizontal Fast Wire EDM Edmmax650HW. With a cutting capacity of 1,000x650x1,250 millimeters (mm) high, this new model can cut build plates up to 650×650 or 800×400 mm.
FormLabs demonstrated its Fuse Blast platform, an easy-to-use, fully automated cleaning and polishing solution for post-processing SLS 3D printed parts. It complements the many SLS printers in the FormLabs portfolio.
HP unveiled the Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) 1200 3D Printer Solution, a compact system with a 12 liter sized build volume. The solution delivers the same core MJF technology used across HP’s existing AM portfolio in a smaller, more affordable printer.
Impossible Objects showed a video of its CBAM 25. Composite-based additive manufacturing (CBAM) prints layers in under four seconds and produces parts with dimensional accuracy.
Jeol discussed its JAM-5200EBM 3D printer, designed for both aerospace and medical applications. For example, the JAM‑5200EBM is AMS7032‑certified, establishing a highly reliable manufacturing process for aerospace materials.
Lithoz demonstrated use cases for serial production in ceramic 3D printing, highlighting its most impactful real world applications. These range from aerospace and semiconductors over “green” technology, to medical and dental.
Mastrex highlighted its laser powder bed fusion capabilities, particular for metal 3D printing. The MX100 is a desktop device with precision, performance, and ease of use all in one machine.
Materialise had product managers on hand to discuss its two popular software solutions in the 3D space—CO AM and Mimics. CO AM helps organizations connect workflows, tools, and machines. The Mimics platform is used in healthcare applications.
MELD Manufacturing offers 3D printing and hybrid machines for printing metal components using the MELD process, which is a patented solid-state technology for AM of metal parts without melting the metal.
MicroTek Finishing promotes its Micro Machining Process (MMP) Technology, which focuses on super precision surface finishing. It serves a variety of industries from aeronautics and space to motorsports.
Mimaki previewed 3D Print Prep Pro v2. The updated software allows users to easily make all kinds of 3D models printable like CG, animation, 3D scans, and AR/VR. The company plans to offer a free, one-month trial starting in June.
Stratasys demonstrated its Additive App Suite, developed by software partner trinckle. Automated design applications (apps) like Clamping Jaws, Shadow Boards, and Drill Guides are now embedded directly into GrabCAD Print and GrabCAD Print Pro. This integration enhances the overall interoperability within a single workflow session—optimized for Stratasys systems. Stratasys expects to launch the Additive App Suite later this summer with ten apps.
Vertex demonstrated is PLM software designed to streamline the 3D printing workflow. Vertex Sync for PLM keeps CAD data and configured product structures from Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, Infor, and Dassault Systèmes Enovia with 3DEXPERIENCE in sync—no file exports or manual steps. View assemblies instantly, share securely, and collaborate without compromising your source of truth.
Wayland Additive discussed electron beam AM with its attendees, specifically its NeuBeam technology which it says prints parts faster and requires fewer finishing steps. The printer, Calibur3, offers a build volume of 300x300x450 mm.
RAPID + TCT benefited from the proximity of all Boston has to offer, attracting a record number of attendees according to SME, the organizer of the event. We look forward to the 2027 iteration, which at press time the location had yet to be revealed.
