Inkcups, a leading supplier and manufacturer of digital inkjet equipment, pad printing equipment and all corresponding supplies, is proud to announce the launch of their all new system for pre-treating glassware, barware, candle holders and glass bottles….
MagiCoat, a 3-part water-based primer, is a spray-on primer that is utilized after glassware items have been flame-treated. The purpose of MagiCoat is to allow digital inkjet ink to better adhere to glassware items thus improving overall abrasion resistance.
Inkcups’ new method for pre-treating first requires exposing the item to a gas flame. This breaks the molecular chain of the substrate’s surface allowing ink to better adhere. After the product has been flamed, the all new glass primer MagiCoat is then sprayed onto the glass. The addition of MagiCoat will create a rough coating on the surface of the glass and will act as an anchor which is ideal for ink adhesion.
The combination of flame-treating the glassware item as well as utilizing MagiCoat gives Inkcups a unique advantage allowing users to obtain on average up to 200 residential dishwashes and up to 600 industrial dishwashes. MagiCoat will also allow glassware to pass other difficult adhesion tests such as crosshatch, transit and ice bucket.
MagiCoat is available is 3 sizes: 750mL kit, 1-gallon kit and 5-gallon kit. A starter kit is also available which also includes items such as a sprayer and mixing utensils.
