The Fall trade show season is in full swing. With September almost behind us, it’s time to preview some of the upcoming events occurring in October that serve those interested in attaining digital printing capabilities from narrow to wide format technologies.
Above: A snap from the 2018 SGIA Expo. The new iteration, Printing United, takes place October 23 to 25, 2019 in Dallas, TX.
A Return to Chicago
The Association for PRINT Technologies (APTech) is preparing for PRINT 19, a comprehensive trade show scheduled to take place October 3 to 5, 2019 at Chicago’s McCormick Place North, Chicago, IL. Be sure to visit on October 3 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.—the floor is open for networking, fun, and food at the Celebrate PRINT Reception.
In addition to the exhibit floor, the event features more than 80 education sessions, including hands-on labs. Additionally, pre-registered attendees are able to attend programs like TechWalks—exhibitor tours based on technical topics of interest. TechTalks are learning sessions hosted by manufacturers to help attendees learn more about various products and services.
Anyone walking the show floor is encouraged to attend the keynote session, held on Thursday, October 3 from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Nicolas Thompson, editor-in-chief, Wired Magazine presents The Wired Future: Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Privacy, Social Media, Truth, Tech Companies, and More. Thompson’s address explores questions around how artificial intelligence and robotics will change our devices, the way we work personally and professionally, earn a living, fight future wars, and even solve problems.
FuturePlans
The PRINT 19 trade show continues to evolve. Next year, APTech and Tarsus Group—the group behind LabelExpo—combine efforts to launch Brand Print Americas. The first event from the joint venture takes place instead of PRINT 2020 and will be co-located with the 2020 edition of Labelexpo, which is planned from September 15 to 17 at the Donald E Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL.
The partnership unites decades of expertise and knowledge of the overall print market. Print Brand Americas offer printers, converters, and brand owners access to solutions for a variety of print needs.
The planned Brand Print Americas event is in response to market research that APTech says demonstrates the need for diversification in the print industry. Brands with labels and packaging requirements also need to source printed materials to meet their other marketing must-haves, including point of purchase, collation packs, outdoor advertising, fleet graphics, and direct mail. These two events bring together the entire supply chain under one roof, to provide greater synergies and opportunities for printers, converters, manufacturers, suppliers, and creatives.
The Next Version
Printing United—the latest iteration of the SGIA Expo—takes place October 23 to 25, 2019 in Dallas, TX. Held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, the event promises a new look at the printing industry by combining wide format and commercial print.
The newly launched show provides attendees with access to the latest solutions for apparel, graphics and wide format, and functional printing applications, while also extending into the commercial, packaging, and in-plant printing segments.
Visit over 600 exhibitors on the show floor or take part in the one of the nearly 100 different learning sessions conducted by industry leaders, printing experts, and notable business owners. Several luncheons—separate ticket required—are held throughout the event. The luncheons target specific niches. For example on Thursday, October 24 at noon the Apparel Decorators Luncheon, offers the opportunity to meet, interact, and network with peers.
In addition, check out the PDAA Pro Team Relay Competition occurring from Wednesday, October 23 through to Thursday, October 24. Two-person teams compete for a $1,000 grand prize per person. As a complement to this attraction, the Wrap Quest Booth highlights some of the latest materials in wrapping and informs on what is happening next in the PDAA community.
Finally, the Printing United team encourages all attendees to visit Gilley’s Dallas on Wednesday, October 23 for the opening night party held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The event is free for all with an exhibitor badge and includes complementary drinks and appetizers.
