Ashland announces the launch of two new highly effective foam control agents for the water-based industrial coatings market. Drewplus* L- 3500 and L-3510 foam control agents are the new standard in controlling macro – and micro foam in high shear spray applied coatings, providing and excellent balance between activity and compatibility.
“We are excited to add these new products to our dissolution product portfolio,” said Ludger Küper, sales manager, coatings specialties Europe. “Compared to Ashland’s current dissolution defoamers, Drewplus* L-3500 and Drewplus* L-3510 foam control agents provide further performance improvement in terms of micro foam reduction, better clarity and compatibility in paint films and have an overall improved cost efficiency.”
“Drewplus* L-3500 and Drewplus* L-3510 foam control agents are formulated with novel hydrophobic polymers that have proven to be extremely efficient in preventing foam during production and controlling foam during and after application,” explains André Smokers, senior staff scientist, research & development defoamers.
During the drying process of applied films, any remaining microfoam will dissolve back into the liquid coating carrier and disappear because of the balance between hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity of the polymer compounds present in these defoamers. Even during the coating drying process, when the film is already set to touch, Drewplus* L-3500 and Drewplus* L-3510 foam control agents continue to perform.
From a regulatory perspective Ashland wants to highlight that according to the REACH SVHC candidate list, updated by the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) latest on July 16, 2019, Drewplus* L-3500 and Drewplus* L-3510 foam control agents do not contain any SVHC substances above 0.1percent, which differentiates these products.
