Fabrisonic LLC, the leading parts and machine manufacturer in Ultrasonic Additive Manufacturing (UAM) 3D printing, announces the release of the SonicLayer 1600. The SonicLayer 1600 is a hybrid manufacturing and fabrication platform that hosts additive and subtractive 3D metal printing processes. The SonicLayer 1600 features a build envelope of 14.5” x 14.5” x 17”, a high-powered 9 kW head on a medium-sized CNC milling center frame.
“The SonicLayer 1600 is an all-purpose tool that is both affordable and versatile,” states Mark Norfolk, Fabrisonic President & CEO. “This platform is in response to a large customer demand, and we are very pleased with the enthusiastic response.”
The SonicLayer 1600 is the ideal fabrication platform for manufacturing operations that require the production of products and devices that involve printing dissimilar metals, embedding sensors or creating smooth, complex internal pathways and geometries – or all three. The SonicLayer 1600 brings a level of capability to a mid-sized CNC /milling platform that can be found nowhere else.
