Die cutters are ideal for mass production of corrugated products, to offset the production cost of the die. They are used in the digital space and new products continue to pop up that rival dieless options depending on a user’s production needs.
Baysek Machines Incorporated
Three die cutters in Baysek’s lineup offer die cutting for corrugated—the C-190, C-170, and EL-150. They allow users to shear cut, fully automatically strip waste, accurately count, and neatly stack simple one-outs to complex multiple-outs at the easy touch of a computerized screen with only one operator. They are rated at up to 60,000 100 percent perimeter cut pieces per hour, free of nicks, angel hair, and dust.
Brausse Group
The company represents the ETERNA line of products from Bobst Group. The ECUT 1650 ELITA SA is an automatic die cutting and creasing machine that handles E, B, C, A, and AB flute board. A new worm gear and crank shaft mechanism drives the mobile lower platen through a toggle mechanism more efficiently, reducing the main motor power by 16 percent and decreasing power consumption. A newly designed gripper bar parallel cam driving index unit with large motion angle allows the gripper bar to start and stop gently, resulting in fewer and smaller nicks. It is also equipped with a overloading protection torque limit clutch.
CorruSystems B.V.
Asahi automatic flatbed die cutting machines for corrugated cardboard packaging handle through cutting, creasing, kiss cutting, perforating, and stripping. The company designed its patented LAP-feeder technology. Unlike die cutters with conventional infeed, the LAP-feeder positions the bottom sheet first. This prevents any misalignment due to the weight of sheets on top of it, resulting in very accurate registration. Especially with pre-printed board, this is an important advantage.
The Asahi range of products is available in various production widths and speeds, and each designed to work with a specific type of corrugated. For example the Asahi AP-1060 is suitable for thinner paper, whereas the Asahi AP-2100 is ideal for micro flute, single- and double-wall corrugated board, and laminated board.
Graphco
The Augusta F1R2 PRO is the digital die cutter that fulfills the promise made by other platforms through combining the high speed, high quality, and true full automation needed to take short-run digital die cutting into the industrial level. With processing speeds of up to two-up 9×12-inch pocket folders every 15 seconds, quick response code driven programing, and industrial level down-stacking for a true lights-out production, the new F1R2 changes the game for digital die cutting. With a processing range of between seven millimeter and thin label stock, and a top speed in cutting and scoring mode up to 4.38 feet per second and 2 G acceleration this compact new system can grow with customers as their business grows.
Sun Automation Group
The SUN625 Rotary Die Cutter is a powerful and versatile machine designed to meet the demands of today’s modern packaging industry. Whether you are looking for a reliable machine for short-run jobs or high-volume production runs, the SUN625 has the features and capabilities to get the job done quickly and efficiently. With a maximum speed of up to 200 sheets per minute, the SUN625 handles even the most demanding production schedules.
Both die and dieless cutters are used to finish corrugated boards. As with any technology, how they fit into a user’s production workflow depends on their current and near-future needs.
