Part 2 of 2
Digital print technologies support decorative laminates ideal for décor. Popular applications include flooring, doors, and wallpaper, but the options are limitless.
Part one of this two-part series on decorative surfaces discusses the growth and drivers of digital décor. Here, we highlight a few of the printers available to create this type of work.
Agfa
Agfa highlights customized digital print utilization in the décor space.
From home décor to outdoor, retail, office space, and fine art, Bill Brouhle, solutions architect, digital print sales, Agfa, feels that there are many ways to utilize the wide variety of Agfa inkjet solutions.
According to Brouhle, every one of its offerings is applicable to this market, from the Agfa InterioJet 3300 for digital printing of laminated surface designs; to the Alussa leather decoration technology; any of the digital UV-curable Anapurna and Jeti printers; to the Agfa Avinci CX3200 soft signage printer.
“Customizing your décor space is our expertise. Agfa provides an integrated complete solution including the engine, inks, software, and service. Each component is fine tuned to provide the customer with the lowest cost of print manufacturing and a maximum up time,” he shares.
Hymmen
For digital décor paper printing with water-based inks, Hymmen offers its SATURN Digital Printing Line.
Carsten Brinkmeyer, head of business development, Hymmen, says this technology meets the capacity requirements of customers at their own production site. “Reduced waste of material and lower transport and stocking costs reduce the customers’ overall production costs,” he shares.
For digital printing with UV-curing inks, Hymmen offers a modular system of different JUPITER Digital Printing Lines. Within this modular system the machines can be customized depending on the material the customer wants to print on—boards or roll to roll, and the needed width and speed of operation. Additionally, the digital structure print is possible with the Hymmen Digital Lacquer Embossing technology. This is especially interesting for all customers that don’t want to offer outstanding optics without the corresponding haptics embossed in register. Digital structure print without underlying décor offers completely new design opportunities.
No matter which Hymmen technology the customer choses—SATURN or JUPITER—they can always be sure of the highest print quality, says Brinkmeyer. This is due to Hymmen’s proprietary high-precision transport and color calibration tools. “With more than 45 digital printing lines in the market in several industries—flooring, furniture, doors and gates, and building materials—customers can count on the process expertise of Hymmen’s service technicians. They stand at the customer’s side not only during the installation of the lines but—if wanted—also as support during their operation,” he explains.
Palis
Palis InkJet solutions are highly reliable and with consistent colors independent from temperature and humidity in the shop floor, according to Thomas Blechinger, sales manager, PadaLuma Ink-Jet Solutions GmbH (Palis).
The company offers inks for décor, food packaging, and wallcovering demands; just-in-time production; and a capping, cleaning, and service solution.
Palis equipment includes eight colors, 1,200 dpi, a maximum 2.250 millimeter printing width, maximum 200 meter per minute production speed, a modular design, and 24/7 production in a regular shop floor environment.
